Concrete Production Process

How is ready mixed concrete made?
When you order ready mixed concrete it will be made in a plant as close to the point of delivery as possible to minimize haulage. We have over 320 concrete plants across the UK which gives excellent national coverage.

Raw ingredients are stored in hoppers and silos and mixed using the latest advanced computerised systems. The process is controlled by experienced batchers who check every load to ensure it meets the customer’s requirements.

The concrete can be mixed dry and water added in the mixer truck or it can be mixed wet at the plant. The following diagrams illustrate standard plant designs.
